On a farm in the Altmark region (Saxony-Anhalt), one of the most exciting new voices in German indie pop can currently be found: Fritz Speck. – Between the barn and the piano, songs like his debut single “‘Wollt’ ich wirklich, dass du gehst’,” which will be released on August 23rd, are being created here. Anyone who has already had the chance to listen to the song – for example, at his remarkable live performance at the FluxFM Bergfest on August 14th – knows that this is meant both figuratively and literally when it comes to his voice.
In addition to his label, Embassy of Music, star producer Daniel Schaub (Casper, Paula Hartmann) also took notice of the musician’s talent. Together with musicians Trille and Stanovsky, Schaub worked with the young songwriter, singer, and pianist on his first original songs, which Fritz will release later this year. Fritz Speck combines his voluminous, sometimes scratchy-rough baritone – a voice one can’t get enough of – with an incredible sense for the emotional depth of the songs. In his music, he takes us into his world: In mostly slightly melancholic, yet rousing and lyrically sometimes ironically cheeky electronic-acoustic indie pop songs, he tells of being lost, self-discovery, longing, farewells, and going with the flow. We are curious to see if and when the high school graduate will be drawn to the big city of his choice, which his music already hints at.
